In 2020 I had the opportunity to undertake a career shift and move into the horticultural sector to take full advantage of my passion for outdoor spaces, plants and gardens.
I started community gardening as a volunteer at Green’s Mill Community Garden where I am now the Community Garden Project Co-ordinator and qualified RHS Horticulturalist.
Green’s Mill Community Garden provides an extension to the education facility of the adjacent working windmill. The garden is open to the public as a place to relax and unwind, observe wildlife and see the progress of fruit and vegetable growing. The space has a Victorian greenhouse and brick built summerhouse. It is maintained mainly by volunteers through sessions that are held weekly on a Friday, attracting local people who are looking to get some gentle outdoor exercise together with learning a new skills and meet new people.
